Abstract

The study aimed to determine the level of curfew hour implementation as well as public safety and law enforcement in Sta. Maria, Davao Occidental, utilizing a descriptive-correlational research design. Specifically, it examined the respondents’ demographic profile, assessed the level of curfew hour implementation, evaluated the level of public safety and law enforcement implementation, and explored the significant relationship between curfew hour implementation and public safety and law enforcement. The study included 379 respondents from Sta. Maria, Davao Occidental, and used a research questionnaire adapted from the International Journal of English, Literature and Social Sciences (2020) and the Office of the Community Oriented Policing Services (2014). Statistical analyses included frequency and percentage, mean, and Spearman’s correlation analysis. Findings revealed that the majority of respondents were aged 16–18 years, female (50.1%), and Grade 12 students (31.9%). The effectiveness of curfew hour implementation was found to be moderately implemented, with a grand mean of 3.48, while the level of public safety and law enforcement implementation scored 3.68, indicating good status. The indicator of performance for public safety and law enforcement received the highest mean of 3.73, reflecting better performance by law enforcement agencies in the community. Overall, there was a significant relationship between curfew hour implementation and public safety and law enforcement. The study thus provides valuable insight for the community, local government units, and law enforcement officers regarding the importance of maintaining peace and order through intensified curfew hour implementation.
